Luggage will be checked through and if you have a AtoA connection there is even no screening required, just a passport control, when leaving Schengen. In this case you would reach your JFK gate in about 10 minutes.

Worst case would be to arrive at A42 and depart at the C gates. This would require a 20 to 30 minutes walk plus security screening and passport control. Still all doable in 60 minutes, so as others said 110 minutes should be fine.
