There was a great Seinfeld episode on this very subject. Series 4, I think it was. Are bereavement fares real? George had to provide a death certificate to the airline to get a 50% discount, but failed due to boorish behaviour at the wake. He did provide a Polaroid of himself standing next to the coffin though.

Sorry to make light of the subject - I recently attended the funeral of a good friend, so know how emotional it is, but at no point was I thinking "how can I make something out of this for myself?".
