My brother came back to the UK from SYD early last year to visit our dad, who was really ill. As it turned out he was much more ill than any of us realised, so my bro' paid the change fee to move his return back by just over a week. This meant he ended up flying home just a day or so after dad died I have to say, at no point then or later did either of us even consider trying to get a discount or anything else from BA or QF (the airlines involved). Quite honestly I thought his reasons for travelling at all, let alone changing his plans, were none of the airline's business!
