Some guy put his over-stuffed soft garment bag in the F overhead and continued walking back to coach. The pax boarding behind him was actually in F and told him to take his bag with him. The coach pax kept walking and the F pax found overhead space 1 row in front (but still in F). Eventually the other F pax arrived to find overhead bins full. The FA insisted that the closet was full and he would have to check his bag. At this point, F pax #1 told the FA that the garment bag above him belonged to a coach pax. The FA said it was too late and once bags have been placed in the overhead bin, she is not authorized to remove them, regardless of whether they belong there or not. The F pax #2 told her he would remove it and then she could either have the coach pax find another spot or then check it and the FA said there was no time and insisted he would have to check his own bag. A couple of the other F pax started grumbling about this "policy" and then offered to put a few of the smaller items at their feet so it would free up more space for the roller bag. This helped prevent F pax #2 from checking his bag. ^

But to add more insult... A coach pax boarded seconds before the boarding door was being closed. The same "helpful" FA as above took his roller bag when he came on board, said the bins was full so she'd store the bag in the closet, and told him to quickly take his seat and fasten his seatbelt. F pax #2 was not paying attention but the rest of us were not believing what we had just seen/heard. There was no closet space for a F pax but a late-coming coach pax gets the royal treatment.
Wow... It almost sounds like she did that for spite. ("You want to grumble about my policy? I'll give you something to grumble about.") But of course, that's reading way to far in to it.

This whole scenario is one reason I absolutely LOVE boarding at L2. The only coach luggage that ends up over my head was put there at the end of the boarding process after we're all situated with our Jack & Cokes.

FWIW, I try to buck the trend. Even if the bins look pretty wide open after we're all seated, I still put my second (laptop) bag under the seat. Once the door closes, if there was enough room within 1-2 rows of me, then I'll put the bag in the OH bin.
