One thing I miss from the "olden" days of flying in the 70's and 80's is an APOLOGY for the delay. In those days, it didn't matter what caused the delay. The GA's and FA's would apologize over and over again, sometimes to the point of annoyance (but you couldn't fault them for trying).

Be careful with the "developing countries" comment. I got seriously flamed for making a similar comment. Many of their airlines and airports put our US airlines to shame.
