DL has spent a good long time trying to define their BE product as a premium biz level service, not trying to compete with the likes of SQ, CX, EK, etc in a true super premium environment. The fact that they are continuing with the installation of the lie flats throughout the 777 and 767 fleet is evidence of this in troves.
Although I have not yet had the opportunity to try the new lie-flats, I know several folks who have done it multiple times. They all say that it is a superior biz class seat to much of what is out there. I agree that they seat does look rather rigid and uncomfortable, but apparently looks can be deceiving.
I remember when DL last had 3 cabins, the biz section was awful. I can't go above BE and don't want DL to stop elevating BE where I can try the real lie-flats if I make it to JNB this year.
