What are my chances of getting on the Upper Deck?
First of all, I'm new to this forum and pretty much hooked. I hope, though, that I'm not going over old ground with my question...
I've got a flight booked to Bahrain 23 April - I'm going to visit family (I haven't been back for almost 10 years! and go to the F1 Grand Prix. And I'm very excited, partly because I decided to use miles to upgrade to CW.
After reading lots of posts/threads on here, and visiting the usual seat guide sites, it's clear that some of the best 744 CW seats are on the Upper Deck and the general advice is to check-in early. So, I thought I'd get in early when OLCI opens 24 hours before (I'm nowhere near Silver or Gold) and bag one of them.
Hwever...I've been on to Expert Flyer and see from their seat maps that already all but 1 of the seats on the UD have been assigned, leaving just 62A which happens to be one of my top choices.
I'm assuming that anyone who has a booking gets "assigned" a seat. If so, could it be that one of the seats on the UD has already been assigned to me, or does the EF seat map only show assignments for those lucky enough to have already chosen their seat?
Apologies for the long-windedness! Basically, do I stand a chance?
