how to determine flight's SWU clearance ability

This is something that is so obvious that I'm presuming one must be able to do it on the website, but I can't figure out how.
When calling the 1K desk, it has prompted very unhappy service people who complain how hard it is to accomplish as well.

If I want to book tickets, and use a SWU, I know how to use the dropdown to search for a flight that is *eligible* for using a systemwide. However, often those flights returned don't have the ability to automatically clear an upgrade.

How can one search for flights where one can clear an upgrade upon booking?
Is it possible?
Even better, if being greedy, would be if one could search for available SWU seats over a period of time, kind of like saver vs standard flight search.

I have a lengthy leisure trip coming up with some travel companions and don't want to spend 10-18hrs in cattle class, and don't want to gamble on my luck for the queue either. But 1K desk being terrible about this...
