I'll put in a vote for my favourite London boozer, the Victoria, just 5 mins walk down London St from Paddington station.

Lovely old Victorian interior, mahogany, mirrors, winding staircases, gallery-cum-library-cum-theatre upstairs, open fires, great gastropub food, friendly staff.
You can even see the shrapnel damage to the bar from a WWII bomb that exploded outside !

It has won Fuller's pub of the year and serves a lovely drop of London Pride.

We were in there a few weeks ago before a gig at Hammersmith. It was freezing outside, but we spent the afternoon in front of the blazing fire with a few pints. Life doesn't get much better ^

Just be careful how much you drink. The "gents" is down a very steep and winding staircase .. as quoted in the link below "... and the journey to the gents is like descending the north face of the Eiger."
