Was flying to LHR from YYZ on February 28th, and the gate attendant accepted by expiring coupon for an upgrade, despite it being one that was not valid for my fare class
I was prepared to use one of my new red ones, but am happy to save it for the year ahead.
Had a decent meal and some great sleep before landing in London... flew through the first class customs line, and then took a shower, read a paper and had some breakfast at the AC Arrivals Lounge before heading into the city for my Sunday Morning meeting.
Great experience there

.
The following Saturday was flying from CDG to YYZ...
- Had upgraded myself and checked in on-line, but the baggage drop off guy insisted that I go back to the check-in desk... who routed me right back to the baggage drop off.
- No priority lane for first class through customs and security.
- The lounge at CDG looks like a dungeon.
- The flight attendent took my jacket, rolled it up and shoved it into the overhead bin (thanks!).
- The meals on the flight were disappointing so after they had cleaned up, I went into the galley and asked for "something else, maybe a piece of fruit" and instead of being offered a variety of choices, the FA threw an apple in my direction.
Feel like I wasted a coupon... even though I didn't use one on my outbound journey.
