Today, I was pulled at security and told it wasn't suitable, and that new DFT rules (apparently commencing the start of Feb) meant passengers are not allowed to use their own bags: only the official MAN airport ones, which you can buy two of for £1. I was told MAN are in trouble for allowing 'all sorts' of clear bags through and now need to strictly enforce the rules.

My stuff unfortunately wouldn't fit in one bag. Fortunately my traveling companion wasn't taking any toiletries so I was allowed to use his allowance and take two bags. I was told I was quite lucky and that if I wasn't with him, I'd have had to throw half my toiletries away, or check them in.

Have any other MAN flyers experienced this madness? Did I just encounter an extreme jobsworth, or is this going to be the way in the future? I presently use the same clear washbag at home and abroad, and it makes life easy as I can just grab it when I'm about to leave. If every trip from now will require trying to squash things into an official MAN airport bag, it'll be a bit of a pain.
Dusseldorf do this and charge you accordingly, although i must admit i had no trouble what so ever with my larger than normal bag yesterday, infact, they were handing out freebie bags at T3 so not sure what happened to you...

Incidentally, I think this would be bordering on a breach of the law, that it, there is a serious Conflict of Interest that MAN Bags must be used out of MAN, but you must buy them at £1... From what i read on the DFT its still the same vague rules and therefore always carry a printed copy with my passport so that i can argue the toss there - eg at Gatwick where i was told my deodorant stick had to be in the plastic bag, and shot him down from a great height.
