I wish you luck, but I wouldn't go into it expecting anything. With a few (notable) exceptions, 1K just seems to be the thing UA hates giving away. An associate of mine who had serious health problems requiring him not to fly for nearly a year and a half (including canceling many flights) was not able to defer 1K, despite nearly being a 2MM at the time and prior VIP at SFO. Of course, he didn't really pursue it much, so maybe with more pushing the result might have been different.

Sorry to hear about your health issues. I wish you a fast recovery and hope that United will at least grant you 1P status in 2010. Your case is very unique. I suggest you send a doctor's note with your request.
