Amex Financial Review questions
Sorry if it has been addressed, but I can't find answers. Thanks for any input.
Some background: I have 7 accounts with Amex - 2 personal, that I don't really need and just opened for bonuses and 5 business, that out of them I really need 2 plus one of them was open 8 years ago, so i don't want to loose it for credit score purposes. One of the cards I have for 9 years.
I charge $3-4k a month between cards monthly, sometimes much more.
I have good credit score (like 780) and I don't think that I ever missed a payment with Amex. 3 month ago for no fault of my own Amex has lowered credit line on my SPG from $35k to $20k. My income has significantly declined last couple years, but it's not obvious at all from my credit situation. My business income and assets are fine.
What happened:
This Friday about 4 PM I've got a call from Amex and a lady said that they are doing Financial Review on me. She said that she knows that i was always great customer, but "it's an economy". She also mentioned that Amex is at risk with me since I carry $25k debt with them. I only carry my monthly spending which is like $3k and when I pointed it to her she said that she sees it now, since her computer made a mistake. She told me that she is freezing my accounts till she gets 4506T signed from me to get my tax info. She also said that I would need to provide taxes for the businesses for buss. cards.
Questions:
I really don't want them to access my tax info. Can I close personal cards and just provide info for the business? Should I close my cards that I don't need on my own before I talk to them again? Should I spent my points right now (I have a lot sitting there)? Are they in danger?
Can someone help me with info? thanks again.
