Holy Cow! I have driven into Canada many times and back to the US, other than the occaisional Customs agent with nothing better to do than try to dig something up to profile me with I have had no issues. The chances that someone is going to go to the trouble of trying to put someone in your car, figure out where you live, then try to come and get it astronomical. If you are that worried about it, rent a car.
