I know that you can make one change to award tickets but I have never heard of free changes to purchased tickets?! Wonder if you can completely cancel for a refund or if it is just a free change to schedule/ destinations?
you could always change it once within 24 hours I just dont think it was advertised. I found this out through error once by booking on the 30th instead of the 3rd. As soon as I hit purchase I knew I screwed up. Upon promptly calling AS they said oh thats no big deal you can change it once for free within 24 hours minus fare difference
