To me it says that they call it that because it was a once deserved, yet antiquated nickname. I have rarely heard this term outside Flyertalk especially during or after a flight. It doesn't say anything about the brand.
I think it says more about the people who think they are witty by saying it. (not at all trying to say this is your parents, no disrespect intended)
