Emergency exit doors are going to be designed to be as light as possible in the event of an emergency, therefore the easiest way is to remove insulation from the door. This has the effect of creating a massive cold panel which could be very uncomfortable to sit beside - I've noticed it being particularly bad on MD-80s, but never noticed it badly on airbus' or boeings.
