One question, though: Empower is 15 V, but the cigarette lighter power is 12 V. Will the extra 3V damage your device? Or, more to the point, will it damage MY device: I have a Sony portable DVD player that has a cigarette lighter power plug - but what happens if I force 15 V through it?

Hmm. That is a good question. I saw the information about the adapter on seatguru. Maybe I need to rethink just using that adapter.
