In their TV ads which ran over the summer, Nationwide claimed that the overseas charge was to pay for "champagne at the shareholder meeting".

Seeing as the Nationwide is owned by its members, I can only assume we will all be receiving champagne - perhaps we should offer them the collective services of this board to help them choose a suitable vintage...
