We are doing a similar itinerary in May. Due to the distance involved, we dropped Krakow entirely. We will fly into Vienna and then to Cesky Krumlov, and then Prague and then Bratislava and then Budapest and back to Vienna. For convenience sake, we will buy the Eastern Europe pass. I usually print out the train schedule for the day of travel with both our preferred itinerary and also alternate ones in case we change our minds for some reason. We enjoy European train travel immensely.. Pack very light and sit back and relax and really see the country.
