Last year I flew SEA-OGG - booked in March and left in August. I checked availability online (there are a couple good websites that allow a search of this) and found availability around May for the flight for 2 seats. I was careful to say an MVPG is
eligible for an upgrade at 72 hours. F seats aren't automatically released to U at 72 hours. If there's only 1 or 2 left at the upgrade window and Y is pretty full they may hold them as revenue F until closer to departure.
