Going off-topic, can anyone recommend a hotel in the downtown area relatively near in cab terms to Union Station in Los Angeles. I've looked at the AAA TourBook and also TipAdvisor, but the TripAdvisor reviews seem all over the place, one person is really enthusiastic about a place and the next person says it's the worst one they've ever stayed at.
Stay away from the Marriott downtown. It's changed ownership a few times and they have a hot water plumbing issue there. Taking a cold shower is not my idea of a good hotel stay. I've stayed at the Westin downtown a few times and been happy. They have a nice brewpub in the building as well if you like good beer.
