Qantas Club for couples [Getting access to lounges without being Silver/Gold/in J/F]

Hi there, apoligies if this has been posted elsewhere but I put my hands on it...

My partner and I fly frequently on BA domestic flights (mostly T5 and Edi/Gla), although I think we will both just fall short of the 50 segments required for a Silver card.

We'd both love to get lounge access to make the commutes a bit more pleasent. We are therefore considering two options to get this:

1. Sign up for Amex platinum and share the priority club pass + insurance etc. = £150 each per year. I guess T5 lounge access wouldn't be possible though, but we could always fly from LGW as easily. Looks like a pretty good offer...
(Also just noticed it get BMI lounge access, so I guess we could fly with them if it made a difference Am a bit of a BA loyal though...)

2. Sign up for Qantas club. From what I can see this gets us into BA domestic lounges when flying BA domestic - is this correct? I assume it doesn't have to be a BA/QF codeshare. The fee for individual one year membership is $705 (aus), but nowhere on the website can I find the fee for signing a partner up (to get to this page you need a membership number for the first person). The only thing on the website are the renewal rates for the first member and the partner. Does anyone know how much it is to sign my partner up for the first year membership?

Curious to know whether people feel the extra expense of the Qantas club is worth it - I think $705 is about £310. I am sure BA lounges will be nicer... as long as the card works to get us in!

Many thanks
