Thank you for the advice, I generally despise bank fees. My South African bank gave me a black card, and I handed it back because of cost, then got it for free, hence I opted for the AMEX credit card. A lot of the additional perks for the platinum I am not averse to paying for so I couldn't warrant the additional fee.

I am however slightly peeved by the process, I called AMEX and explained I have recently moved to AUS, I have not put my self on my businesses pay roll due to tax reasons in my native SA yet I will be gainfully employed in the coming months. I offered a lot of proof I can fit the bill so they will waive the salary requirement and they kept fobbing me off.

I asked what they do when they get a 65yr old retire? They said huh.....
