I just got off the phone with UA reservations for LAX-SFO & requested E+. I heard the agent clicking his keyboard, and then said he remarked, "I don't see E+ on this aircraft (733)," but to double-check with the agent when I check in. He sounded like a nice, friendly guy & very accommodating -- I don't think he was putting me on. It's a short flight, so it doesn't matter much. At least it's not on a Dash.</font>
Unfortunately, the UA rep was probably correct. A good portion of UA 737's are ex-Shuttle aircraft (remember that?) and have not been converted to E+ seating. In fact, they probably never will be. In short, they are awful little devils, but used on such short hops that it really doesn't matter too much, as noted.
Fortunately, UA has been doing some major schedule re-shuffling, and so equipment has been upgauged on many flights. So it would be wise to check at the gate, as the aircraft can be switched to a 757 on occasion. (A few years back UA actually ran a 744 on this route once a week! Ahhhh... the beauty of a First Suite LAX-SFO!)
