Soulless

I've now stayed in 2 different Alofts and although the rooms are perfect for a one night business stay (big comfy bed, big TV, wi-fi and great shower) the whole experience is soulless.

I appreciate that a box building on the edge of the airport may be tough to give character too but at least work on the inside. Maybe this is corporate mentality in cloning everything and everyone, but surely some individuality at each hotel to at least give you some sense of idea that you are in a different part of the US would be nice.

Chicago and Denver Alofts were identical from the moment you walked through the doors from the layout of reception, the bar and the pool and even the cheesy "aloha" welcome. I won't be staying in an Aloft again through choice.

Aloft epitomises Dave Gormans feelings and why he wrote his book America Unchained. Definitely worth a read if you stay in lots of US hotels.
