Think point to point.

Bear in mind the restrictions on carrying liquids... buy a bottle of gin in LHR and you'll lose it in ZRH for the onward. Simplest, if not cheapest, to buy it in ZRH on the return.

If you've got hold luggage - buy it in both directions - and put the outbound stash in your bag for the return.

Also a tip for shopping in ZRH - they'll offer to charge your credit card in your currency, instead of CHF. Refuse - it'll cost you 3-5% more.
