Over four rides a day- the one day metrocard at $7.50. Note that a new day starts at 3 am every night from the first time it's used, not a 24 hour period, so it won't make any sense to get one to make a one way ride to the hotel and crash for the night, as it will reset at 3 am. Every person will need a card.
If your plans have you taking over four trips a day for four days, the one week card (to add to the confusion that expires seven days after first use at midnight, not 3 am) is the best deal.
Excellent summary! Just one minor clarification: The Funpass does not expire at 3:00 AM after first use; it expires at 3:00 AM on the calendar day following the calendar day of first use. So ... if you first use a Funpass at 11:59 PM on Monday night, the card will indeed expire about 3 hours later, at 3:00 AM on Tuesday morning. But if you first use a Funpass at 12:01 AM on Tuesday morning, the Funpass will not expire until 3:00 AM on
Wednesday morning, about 27 hours after first use. This probably won't make any difference to most users, but could matter to late-night revellers.
