RDU has recently put a really stupid plexiglass maze at the US/DL/UA/NW end of the terminal to replace the Disney ropes. It's right after exiting the escalator to the second floor security. Ridiculous layout and slow. If the 2nd floor line is extremely long...you can tell when the 1st floor line snakes back from the id check to the main lobby, it's sometimes faster to walk down to the Continental / SW escalator. It is usually quicker through security and close to the US club and gates. Say Hi to Donna and Frances if you are in the club on Sunday. They know me by my cockroach pin.
