Meals are quite good and the wine can't be beat. If you have to connect in Rome vs Madrid, MAD wins hands down. AZ lounges in Terminal C at FCO are atrocious. Seats with AZ are not lie flat, but are very comfortable. If you can sleep on your back and don't require rolling over to your side, then AZ will do just fine. My last long-haul on UX was from CCS to MAD on A330 and while the seat was fine, I slid down all night long and it was not very comfortable. For me, AZ wins on food. UX wins for lounge. Neither have the perfect seat, so it's completely your call on that. While I do live in Italy and am not a huge fan of AZ for obvious reasons, their FA's are not bad. They are typical Italian - friendly but not overbearing. Just my two centisimi.
Thanks! This is very very helpful (excellent value for 2 centisimi! ) As the price difference is quite important (UX is about £300 / €350 cheaper) and AZ times are slightly better but not much, if the too are comparable in terms of product, I'll go for UX. Thanks again for your help!
