The U-2 was bicycle and outriggers, and that was a special case of the willies because the length of the nose required the chase vehicle to talk the pilot down from about 20 feet to landing. The designers obviously got it to work, but it's not my cup of vodka.
No question. Plus, the B-52's are all about 50 years old and slated to fly at least another 30 years...
