This sale fare shows an expiry date but even it can be pulled at any time should the airline wish to end a sale early for whatever reason, which doesn't happen often. Most published airfares aren't sale fares and don't have an specific expiry date and are subject to change without notice at any time.

Not sure what happens if you make a reservation with the current rules, and not ticket (but within any time limits) until after the fare is gone. Perhaps TCOOK has an answer to this.
No fare is guaranteed until ticketed regardless of what fare rules existed at time the reservation was made. You may hold a seat for 24 hours but if a sale ends or is withdrawn in the meantime your ticket will be repriced at whatever lowest applicable fare basis exists when payment is applied. In my APO CRS when this occurs the computer defaults to warn you that your stored fare has changed, shows the old and new prices and asks whether you want to proceed and it's then up to the passenger whether they want to accept or reject the current price.

I like the ITA set-up as the complete fare rule and fare basis is displayed on their itineraries but you do have to follow the links a few screens.
