My wife was flying (YUL - YYZ - NRT) alone with our kids (all under 8 at the time) and was asked at YUL check-in for a letter. It didn't seem to matter that I (Dad) was there helping with their bags. Get a Notarized letter from the friendly neighbor who's a lawyer or the one who has your company's account.
