Flight attendant and passenger flirting
I hope you don't find this OT.
I've wanted to post this for a long time. I found this amusing, and it is completely true.
It was last August; I was on an AF flight from HKG to CDG on C cabin.
Sometimes, I look around when I am on a plane, aware of my surrounding, other times, I simply disconnect from the world and get to sleep as fast as possible. This time, I was looking around.
Soon after I took my seat, I noticed a tall passenger, neatly dressed, sporting designer bags, open shirt... he was walking down the aisle and I noticed how he gave a nice smile (and a look) to a cabin crew when they were passing each other. Then, another smile to a different cabin crew. No words, just looking. Strange, I thought.
Well, the passenger ended up seating just at my side, across the aisle. And then things started getting even stranger. After a few minutes, people still boarding, one of the cabin crew came to the passenger and gave him a copy of AF's magazine. He looked a bit confused.
As the attendant walked towards the front rows, the guy opened the magazine, to find a piece of paper with a telephone number on it. He looked up and made eye contact with the flight attendant, who was standing some meters away, by the galley, and touching her hair.
Then, the passenger took his iphone and started tapping something that obviously was being sent to the flight attendant, who, phone in hand, was waiting for a text message to arrive. A couple more of this exchanges, with passenger and FA texting each other and soon, it was time for departure.
So the doors closed and the flight attendant disappeared, I guess busy with other tasks.
Nothing happened for a while, seatbelts fastened and take off.
But then, as soon as the sign went off, the rendezvous... The passenger stood up and met the flight attendant by the restroom, where they were chatting friendly for some minutes.
I don't remember what happened next, I recall that from that moment there were two categories of flight attendants: those who knew what was going on, and those who didn't. Every time a cabin crew that knew, walked pass the passenger, they kind of smiled at him.
I would have not noticed that much if it was not that, myself sitting on the wrong side of the aisle, was being completed ignored by the flight attendants.
So much distracted were the flight attendants with the guy, that when it was time for serving dinner some 30-45 minutes into the flight, they _forgot_ about serving me... I had to remind the flight attendant that I also wanted to have dinner when they were already serving the next row.
It went on like this, some looks, some smiles. Almost no talking, I guess, so that other passengers won't notice, but I did.
After dinner, the guy met the attendant again. They talked briefly, by the galley, and then, they both disappeared. My neighbor’s seat was empty for at least 40 minutes, during which the man was nowhere to be seen.
I went to the toilet at that point, and I can tell you neither the attendant nor the passenger were on the Affaires cabin. Maybe they were in F, maybe somewhere else, I don't know.
When I returned to my seat, I couldn't help but getting asleep. And I slept for most of the flight, until breakfast, when the guy was sitting again at his place, and the attendants were smiling at him again, every time they passed by his side.
And so this is the story.
I had never seen flirting at this level on a flight (or whatever was going on), not even among passengers, and I was wondering if you have witnessed something similar. It did not bother me; I just found it interesting, albeit rather unprofessional.
