SMF is literally in the middle of open fields.

Although I've never tried it (and don't intend to!), sleeping at this airport would also be grim -- this is confirmed by the "sleeping in airports" website. Plus, there seem to be cops wandering around all the time, they might even kick you out.

You won't have a great seven hours, alas.
