We have flown with our teenage son singly or together for the past several years and usually are not asked. However, there have been some requests and we feel that it is better to have a letter signed by both parents and notarized by our lawyer neighbour with us
just in case. It costs nothing but a little bit of time in advance and when dealing with Customs and Immigration on either side of the border we think it is well worth it. Do it!
