You cannot pre-select seats domestically - this is done at check-in only, even for Business Class. Preference (at check-in) does seem to be given to TG ROP elietes and *A Elites, and the fact that one of you is not an Elite either shouldn't be an issue, as you travel together. Check-in early to improve chances. Enjoy.
