TSA Officers dont have the power to detain or even enforce laws. People claim that the TSA Officers "confiscate" things from them. In reality they are voluntarily surrendering their items. You can easily get back almost anything that was "confiscated" and leave the checkpoint.
TSA Officers are pretty much glorified security guards. The illusion of being a Leo is necessary because a lot of the public would try to walk all over them otherwise.
Very incorrect... Anything that is surrendered or confiscated as you call it, is then considered "US Government Property" and must be disposed of. We do NOT have authority to give away "Government" property...
And as far as people would walk all over TSA... Federal Checkpoint, go ahead.. It might, just might get you past without any resistance, then again...
