the only part of sullenbergers comments was wen the congress critter asked about having a second job to cover everything, for which they said yes. Well boooo hooooo there are lots of people that work second jobs to cover everything like FF, LEO's, EMS and they certainly dont make anywhere near what airline pilots do even with working a fair amount of OT.

If your making above a 100K and still need a second job then you are leaving above your means and thats your own fault. I live on half of that and Im able to pay all of my bills and put enough awake each year to cover when times get tough (currently have 18 months of expense worth in the bank. I average 1-2 months of expenses a year).

This Pay us more or Die BS is just a scare tactic for union contract negotiations and i totally disagree with it. your union negotiated the contract and you approved it so you made your bed now sleep in it.
