RR credit for car rentals not worth it?

Has anyone besides me found that getting RR credit for car rentals to not really be worth the hassle?

Problems that I've encountered:
- Rental car company tacks on a "frequent flyer surcharge" which can be anywhere from $0.50/day to $1.50/day.
- Double/triple/quad promo credits given only when a specific Promo or Corporate ID/Rate is used.
- RR credit takes a long time to post and/or the extra promo RR credits don't post.

I got burned last year at Dollar which had a quadruple RR promo running but I only got the standard 0.5 RR for my week-long rental for which I was charged an extra $8 frequent flyer surcharge. By the time the half credit posted, the promotion was over so I couldn't go back to review the T&C fine print.

Anyone have good experiences with car rental companies that don't have these frequent flyer surcharges and don't make you jump through hoops to get promo credit?
