No that's not the same: BA's policy explicitly says you'll be offered the best timed
BA alternative or a refund ("
Remedy 2 - We will carry you ... on another of
our scheduled services").
The OP can't force Comair to put him on the SAA flight (unless there's a legal argument that the previous day is not "reasonable"), but it might be that Comair's response reflects their more flexible policy.
