I've checked flights far in advance, where there are currently virtually no bookings made yet, and the above applies.
You're getting I fares? Lucky you. For the LHR-ARN-LHR parts of my trips to/from MAN I'm getting D fares, and when I do see an I fare the difference is ~£5.
I think - as someone stated before - the booking system gives you I fares when it's cheaper to book into economy and fix-priced upgrade from there than it is to buy an R.
I remember when CE prices were significantly less than the competitions, now the price difference between MAN-ARN-MAN in business on BA and SK is £1.30, and KLM is about £130 cheaper. I can't justify flying BA if the convenience & speed of a direct flight is only one pound more expensive and the other connecting option is over £130 cheaper.
If these prices stay, like Petrus, when I fly BA intra-EU it'll have to be ET.
