The OP charged (and intended to charge) the cost of the tickets to a credit card. No grounds for dispute there.
OK, there is a customer service issue in the promptness of providing the refund, but that's not a basis for disputing the original charge.
I had the exact same problem with a £200+ train ticket that thetrainline.com were supposed to refund, but hadn't.
I called Amex who said to send the supporting documentation in. They credited disputed amount and then chased up thetrainline.com.
So, I would say that calling the credit card company is good advise.
