.. I'm rather mysitfied at how uncompetative the US airlines are on fares to asia. This EVA fare is refundable for $100.00 fee and carries a $100.00 change fee. It's good for 2 months and has no minimum stay. UA and Northwest are totally non refundable, $250.00 change fee and are good for 30days (45 for NW). The real deal breaker with UA/NW is that their fares are considerably more expensive, even using the nice fuel drop trick north of the border UA was $790.00.
Perhaps the former explains the latter.
Somehow I suspect if UA or NW posts a fare with reduced fees but no mileage accrual it's not gonna be well received here.

One usually has to pay substantially more on foreign carriers to accumulate mileage - smth we in US take for granted.
