Just flew NW last week - SIN>>NRT>DTW>DFW and I can confirm the 1st leg (SIN>NRT) was much better than the balance of the flight. NRT>DTW the plane seemed quite ragged, and had no personal video screens either. Fortunately had my Ipod to keep me amused during that 12 hour flight. And drinks were USD 5/each on all legs, including during meals.
