if the did come it would likely just be feeder service to ATL and probably one of their shorter routes. Would the people driving to alt airports be willing to get a connecting flight rather than a direct flight. Do you have to pay to park at GSP? There would have to be some advantage to flying from there and having the connection rather than driving as many are willing to do today.
I think that there are tons of airports constantly lobbying for service to their airport. Harrisburgh PA (MDT) is a great example, they finally got a LLC (airtran) to come to town, but they fly only to MCO. No feeder service to ATL to take on DL. Rumor has it at Airtran's service from the DC area airport draws people from as far as MDT even though they don't offer connecting service and they don't want to take away from that.
If I knew that 59% of a market was willing to travel to other airports that I provided service to, would it be worth going after the other 40%?
