It wouldn't surprise me if FR effectively 'banned' those without EU passports/identity cards from flying with them outright as a non-cost effective segment of their client base. If that's the case, I'll also be done with them.

At a guess Ryanair will either

a) allow everyone to use online check-in just like a grown up airline
b) as they already have the desks where you pay your excess baggage bills, you would have to present your documents there - for a fee of course
