There are three standard ways to qualify for status with AA:
- Qualifying Points (EQP's)
- Qualifying Miles (EQM's)
- Segments
There is another critter Called "Redeemable Miles" (RDM's), this is what one uses to redeem awards.
An AA platinum flying a 1000 mile segment on an AA flight in N class would earn:
- 500 EQP's
- 1000 EQM's
- 1 Segment towards status &
- 2000 RDM's
An AA platinum flying a 1000 mile segment on an AA flight in F class would earn:
- 1500 EQP's
- 1000 EQM's
- 1 Segment towards status &
- 3000 RDM's
