I agree that this is an excellent thread. Having just returned from a week at FS George V in Paris, I had decided that I would no longer stay at a hotel that didn't provide in-room coffee making facilities. FS GV has a list of items available on request, and it doesn't include coffeemakers, so I didn't ask for one. Should I have - has anyone actually received one at FS GV?

The great thing about Peninsula Tokyo, for example, is that you can make acceptable espresso in your room. There's just no way that room service can provide drinkable espresso in the morning, even in a luxury hotel.
