Baldanza is a moron! Comparing plane tickets to Broadway shows or sporting events is ridiculous. If I buy a ticket to a show, that seat stays empty if I am a no-show. If I don't show up for a flight on USAir, they will try to fill that seat if at all possible, thus making twice the money for a seat.
